CEVIPOF (Sciences-Po Paris), SciencesCom (Audencia Group) and Media School (Bournemouth University) with the co-operation with IDEX Initiative for Excellence have a pleasure to invite you for the conference-workshop hold in the heart of Paris.
Our four-day workshop will explore the impact new Web 2.0 tools and platforms, such as social networks, weblogs, comment features and content sharing sites will have on political engagement and so on political participation and the relations between citizen and state. Our aim is to gather researchers from political sciences and communication studies to discuss the most important issue linking the two disciplines – communication and civic engagement. We want to prepare the agenda for future research and build common projects to apply for external funding.
The keynote lectures will be given by Rachel Gibson (Manchester University), Bruce Bimber (California University at Santa Barbara) and Pascal Perrineau (IDEX, CEVIPOF Sciences-Po Paris).
We would meet during four days in the mornings and afternoon sessions (closed to the public) and one open session with the keynotes speeches. Only participants willing to participate in all four days are asked to submit their extended abstract.
We suggest papers should relate to the subjects of the following themes :
– Traditional and non-traditional forms of civic political engagement
– Civic political engagement – still preaching to the converted
– Cognition and behavior in online environment
– Public spheres in the digital era
